Going Local in Keyword Research and Link Building:
SEO Tip to Improve Your Business Profits

This week was very interesting for our keyword research team, because several keywords research clients (without knowing each other) demanded to make a local keyword research. Surely they know that they do, because for their business local searches give very good money.

Then we thought “But many Free Traffic System users can also have local online businesses” and once realizing this, we decided to share how to do keyword research for local keywords and how to benefit from it.

Is My Business Ok for Local Keywords?

Before you “go local” in keyword research and link building, you should understand that not every business is ok to go local. Usually it is the real businesses which has local coverage (car repair, event agency, fitness club, food delivery) that will seriously benefit from getting local visitors to their site.

This is simple. If you have a car repair company in Denver it makes no sense to fight for the very competitive keyword “car repair”, because:
- this is a very difficult keyword
- your traffic will be very untargeted (yes, they are interested in car repair service, but if they are on another coast – what’t the point of such client?)

Local Keywords = Low Link Building Competition!

And this is a serious advantage for you – the user of Free Traffic System – who can quite quickly build many backlinks with the necessary keyword in the anchor text of the backlinks. Your other local competitors (if they are not users of our system) can do nothing against you.

Let’s use the example of car repair. This screenshot shows the link building competition for ‘car repair’:

As you can see, the competition is serious – almost 6,000,000 web pages that have incoming links with this keywords. We do not say it is impossible to take Google page 1 for this keyword, but this is a day-to-day link building work that has to be carried on for months (at least, 2-3 months).

And now the keyword of ‘car repair denver’, and the screenshot shows it all…

That seems to be much better than 6 mln :) And if you have a car repair service in Denver, then you are lucky, because we have found you a keyword for free :)

It does not mean that for any local keyword you are going to have this kind of low link building competition. But this competition will be lower than the competition for the general, non-local keywords.

Local Keywords = Better Conversions!

This is simple, but we decided to highlight this issue. Of course, local searches are not huge – they are 10 – 100 – 1,000 – 10,000+ times smaller than the global search for a keyword. That is why do not expect huge traffic to pour in, when you get page 1 for a local keyword.

But each of these visitors are real gold, because by doing a local search it gets obvious that they are targeted people in your region who are interested in local service. If they are in Denver, they will not go to New York or California, or Canada. They need your help right here – in Denver. They are your golden visitors!

So, once you have found these local keywords. Login to your Free Traffic System account and start building backlinks with the researched keyword(s) in the anchor text of the backlinks.

Are You Doing
The Bonus Backlinks Magic
The WRONG Way?

It is funny, but many people need to see someone else on page 1 before they start acting – but it is what it is. After this post was published and showed that affiliates in Free Traffic System can get backlinks without submitting a single post, lots of people started to affiliate the project.

We were happy – this doubled daily number of registrations, more than doubled the daily level of article submissions. And then we saw that some of the affiliates missed the point and might never get Google page 1. This post is going to explain how to avoid the problem.

The WRONG Way to Do It…

It will be easier to explain the problem from the example of the wrong way of handling the bonus backlinks. And our virtual affiliate Tony will help to do that.

Tony was shocked to see that other affiliates get lots of bonus backlinks “OMG!” – he said – “Where have my eyes been before? How could I miss to read the affiliate page rules” and Tony rushed to promote Free Traffic System.

Tony also went to the Affiliate Program page and inserted lots of keywords into the Bonus Link Settings (you can read how to do that on this page).

And this is what Tony did the wrong way – he was so eager to get Google page 1 for different URLs of his site that he inserted several URLs and made several keywords for each of the URLs. And this is a big mistake.

Let’s do simple calculations. Tony put 5 different URLs for bonus backlinks settings and got 5 different keywords for each of the URLs. This basically means that Tony gave Free Traffic System 25 different variants of links with anchor texts.

Now imagine, Tony has referred 10 people and only 2 of them started to submit articles and bring Tony the bonus backlinks. But even if these 2 users are submitting content like crazy, Tony has so many different versions of links and anchor texts in the bonus settings, that he literally needs tons of content to be submitted by his downline before he sees any positive results.

The RIGHT Way to Do It…

(1) Do not be greedy about your bonus settings. Start with one URL and 2-3 keywords for that URL in the bonus backlinks settings.

(2) Once a week check the activity of your downline: how many people you referred and how many bonus backlinks they have generated for you (read this post to find out how to check the number of your bonus backlinks).

(3) If you saw that your bonus backlinks are growing and you have ~ 100 and more new bonus backlinks per week – then you can add new URL and 2-3 keywords to the bonus backlinks settings.

And this is Not Just About Bonus Backlinks!

Even if you are simply submitting articles, it is pointless to have 20 keywords for KEYWORD1 and 10 keywords for KEYWORD2, because the maximum number of republications that you can get from 1 article is 30 blogs.

This means that each of your KEYWORD1 keywords will get maximum 1 backlink, and each keyword from the KEYWORD2 will get maximum 3 backlinks. This is not enough to make a push. You do not imagine how many people are doing this mistake.

So, 2-3 keywords per KEYWORD1 and KEYWORD2 is absolutely ok.
