Google Search Engine Ranking – Up and Down

Up and Down in Google Ranks
What is Going On?!

Anyone who was building backlinks knows this feeling – you build backlinks, get Google page 1, feel glorious about this fact and then … lose your ranks. You are swiped out to page 5, or 10 or even deeper in the results.

OMG, what is going on?!
Google is punishing me for trying to improve my google search engine ranking!!
This is a sandbox and I got into it!!
Google somehow saw that I am building backlinks and now the site is cursed!!

Everything is Fine
Google is NOT Punishing You

There are absolutely simple and logical reasons for this Up-and-Down in SERPs (positions in search engines).

So, sit back and relax. No conspiracy, no punishment, no sandbox – you simply lack the knowledge which is given in this video and explains:

(1) WHY this up-and-down happening with the sites
(2) HOW to avoid it

So, watch this video and you will understand everything and fear will fade away.
(sorry for splitting the video into 2 parts, but YouTube requires each video to be less than 10 minutes)

Hey, thanks for posting that very interesting explanation! I think it will definitely help alleviate some of the angst a lot of newer marketers feel when they see Google “dancing” so much. Steady, consistent backlink building is a key over time.

Now I see why I have had this happen so often. You work hard to get enough links to get to Google page one.stay there for a day or two then bang dissappear into the netherworld. Then you get back on page one after a few days.It is all very logical when you see this explanation. Thanks for very useful info.JM.

This makes so much sense. I had reached quite high for certain keywords and suddenly lost position and didn’t know why. Thanks for sharing the info.

    Very true!

After having build new sites for a while and building backlinks, I’m now used to this phenomenon.

But you have to admit, it’s scary!

Well congratulations on a well made pair of videos. Truthfully, I rarely listen or watch videos as too much time is wasted on self promotion, etc.

But I was happy to stay with you for the full time.
It’s especially good for me, as I am weak in SEO so I could use some help like this.
    Thanks

It’s very good and clear explaining on these 2 videos why up and down on Google ranking. One thing I would like to do for sure is never stop building backlinks if I do not want to be up and down on Google ranks.

    Thanks

Thank you for the post. I watched my site go from page 1 position 4 to page 5 position 6 overnite. I was not quit sure what was going on but I know I’m guilty of not consistanly building backlinks. I guess it’s true you get back what you put into something.

It’s not you who are guilty. Just think about Google as content addict. And when you give great content (with your backlinks inside) to this addict – you get rewards. But as with every addiction Google wants to get it all the time – that is why this is one of the strategies to survive – is to keep spreading more new content with backlinks and these backlinks can do miracles for you.

    Fresh = New Yes?

So your basically saying you should consistently add articles to FTS daily to stay on the first up – Right?

    Thanks for the vid.

Here I wouldn’t be so greedy to say that Free Traffic System is the only tool you can use to build backlinks.

I would better say in a more general way – keep building quality one way links on a regular basis.

P.S. And yes, Free Traffic System can help you a lot in building backlinks. But this is not the “one and only” way to get backlinks. You can also do forum posting, blog commenting, etc.

Hey guys great video as always. Now since I run a marketing blog myself I really enjoy discussing backlinks and the effects they have on Google SERPs placement. First off the freshness of backlinks I think this is something that Google is switching to they want to find what is new or happening. Some theories I have read is Google may be trying to add social websites into their algo finding the sites which are very popular rather than purly judging a site on the amount of backlinks.

Something that I have noticed within the make money niche is a couple blogs that are in the spot light on top of the most cherished keywords. Now what really pisses me off about these sites is they very rarely update and really the only thing they have going for them is the amount of backlinks and having all the backlinks with anchored keywords. I want to say that having fresh unique content is imporant, but in terms of Google position these sites hardly ever have new content the only thing they have is 20-30k backlinks. Because of this I have started a backlink campaign I am up to 9k using your system of course as a way to really up the backlinks;) Anyway I think that you guys really have the important aspects of Google down and have the front page for some really nice keywords.

One suggestion I noticed that you don’t accept blogger blogs and this is the platform which I run all of my blogs off of. Perhaps there would be a way to have blogger in your system? It would be nice to see.

    All the best,

    Kris,

Some blogs have already gained so many backlinks (backlinks that have the age of 2-3 years) that it makes them to be very good on the keywords and not jump all the time.

I can tell you that in some niches for some of the testing blogs we have built so many backlinks, that we don’t build any backlinks at all now (for over 4 months) and the sites are still page 1, position 1! But this is more of an exception. Especially if we are talking about tough keywords with huge competition.

P.S. I will never tell you who exactly, but some of the very famous Internet marketers are using us to be page 1 for very tough keywords. But they simply don’t tell this to the rest of the world because we are their secret weapon. I do not say we made them position #1, but some of them from the bottom of the page 1 went to position #3, and some have never been on page 1 and got here.

I do 2 types of backlink, the home page backlink and the page link. Page links by zimbio, wetpaint, and xanga get me daily traffic by submitting articles, and that improves my rank and google brings me search engine traffic and is a great jump start to my site. My main keyword is more of a mystery,, from page 1 when I have few backlinks to page 100 after my traffic system , if google doesn’t like my traffic system, then why send me traffic from serp? If I have a good number of pages, all 100% unique then why drop my relevant keyword homepage listing?

Also I noticed , when i get to 1st page yahoo , my analytics show google sends me no traffic at all, but I am not deindexed , I just don’t show up for long tails any more. Has any one else seen that?

  21. Jimisan said on August 7th, 2009 2:34 pm

I’m not an expert on this thing. I guess backlinks should be built naturally instead of rushing. Maybe some of us are too eager to be at the top of SERP submitted ‘too many articles’ at once which might not be organic in the eyes of the Google. Just like building a concrete house, it starts with piling, foundation, column and beam, etc…..which takes a few months to complete and not overnight. Well, it’s just my opinion.

    And quite a reasonable opinion.

That is why many users in FTS just submit some articles and wait. By the way, this is what option #1 in the video is about.

The only problem is that the majority of people are not ready to wait like you. They do not want to wait for the “piling, foundation, column and beam, etc”. And we cannot change these people. The only thing we can do is explain why those who decided to do it aggressive way should understand that they should stay aggressive, otherwise they can slide down the SERPs.

Thank you for presenting the facts about “up and down and up again” despite building backlinks. That’s to me is very normal.

But how about those keyphrases which “up and down and down again” and never to be see again? I have a few keyphrases facing this problem although they are not my main keyphrases.

I do not have an answer which is 100% guaranteed answer, but I think that for these keywords you simply did not have enough backlinks.

When the links have been fresh, when you have been receiving all these “perks” from Google like freshness, home page, etc. – you are on the page 1.

And when all these SEO perks expire, you get down.

But I can tell you that on the keywords of not high link building competition it is possible to build enough backlinks and stop building and stay page 1.

P.S. The only issue is that Google hides how many backlinkns is “enough” but you can read more about this issue here http://www.freetrafficsystem.com/backlinks-checking-mission-impossible/

Thanks for the great videos, it’s clear explanation of what’s happening to those sites that position drop.

However, while I 100% agree that writing constistantly increases Google position I would like to see the number of required words in articles reduces to 300… Writing is fine but 450 words each and every day – especially in seasonal niches – is too much :)

    This is already done :)

Great info thanks, I have studied many explanations regarding google dancing, this is the best so far.

It is kinda scarry when it happens to your own site, as you never know for sure what’s going on, in my case everytime my site has just been dancing, never permenantly vanished… touch wood.
